Robotics is ever so expanding and is still growing. Robotics is the future of mechanics as we know it. We may need robotics for something minor such as cooking food for us, but majorly we need them for challenges that'll help us in the long run such as the DARPA challenge which challenges robots to go to places that humans normally can't.
